Manchester United transfer news: Toni Kroos, Ivan Perisic, David De Gea, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Nainggolan

MANCHESTER United really want Ivan Perisic and they’re willing
to swap some big name players to get him.

And Manchester United really don’t want to lose David De Gea,
unless they get a Real Madrid superstar in return.

SWAP DEAL FOR DE GEA?

Real Madrid have once again been linked with a move for United
goalkeeper David De Gea, but the Red Devils won’t go
down without a fight.

Various reports from the UK and Spain suggest a Real bid for De
Dea is imminent and Jose Mourinho is planning on getting a
superstar in return.

The Mirror claims the Special One will “demand” Toni
Kroos
in return for De Gea, wanting the German to line up
alongside Paul Pogba in the middle of the park.

This is in part due to United feeling “angered” by Real’s
decision to re-ignite their interest in De Gea – who nearly
joined the club on deadline day in 2015.

ESPN’s senior football writer Mark Ogden has gone as far
to suggest Real Madrid don’t have the “ability to pay for the
Spain No.1”, meaning a swap deal could suit their situation.

But Don Balon in Spain reports that Toni Kroos is not a
swap option, with Jose Mourinho instead preferring Raphael
Varane
being included as part of the De Gea transfer.

United are short of top quality centre backs and Varane, 24,
broke into Real’s first XI under Mourinho as an 18-year-old.

The Mirror have also reported Kasper Schmeichel
is growing in belief he could be the man to replace De Gea at
Old Trafford should his move to Real be completed.

PLAYERS USED AS PAWNS FOR PERISIC

Calcio Mercato have reported Ivan Perisic has
left Inter Milan’s pre-season camp amid increasing talks of a
Manchester United transfer.

While initial reasons for Perisic’s exit is a dental problem,
United’s keenness to sign the Croatian has led to three players
being linked with a swap deal.

The Sun claims Inter are set to “demand” Anthony
Martial
in return for Perisic, with Inter boss Luciano
Spalleti unwilling to let go of a first team star without an
imminent replacement.

But The Mirror is reporting Man United could offer up
Matteo Darmian AND Chris Smalling as pawns for
Perisic.

Smalling is expected to be sold, with The Sun claiming
Mourinho has given the “green light” for his departure – with
West Brom and Arsenal lurking.

UNITED TRANSFER BITES

Radja Nainggolan is expected to sign a new contract with
AS Roma to end speculation of a move to Manchester United.

The Belgian midfielder had been linked to both United and Inter
Milan, but Sky Sport Italia claim a four-year contract
extension will be confirmed soon after positive negotiations.

Ander Herrera is expected to be rewarded with a new
contract, according to Spanish publication Sport.

Herrera had been linked with a move to Barcelona but Mourinho
had no plans to sell his midfield star.

Mourinho is also not content with just two big name signings
this off-season – with Portuguese paper Record hinting
Zlatan Ibrahimovic could return to Manchester United
when his knee injury clears up.

Finally, The Guardian has reported Mourinho turned down
the chance to sign Arsenal record signing Alexandre
Lacazette.

According to the article, Mourinho thought Lacazette was “not
to the standard required” with the Portuguese boss doubting
“Lacazette’s suitability for the Premier League, his physical
attributes and big-game mentality.”
