Texas landed one of the state’s top receivers and one of
America’s top deep threats on Saturday in Houston (Texas)
As a junior, Woodard caught 35 passes for 792 yards and 14
touchdowns, finding the end zone less than every three
The 247Sports Composite ranks the 6-foot-1, 193-pound Woodard
as the nation’s No. 12 receiver and No. 8 recruit overall in
the Lone Star State. He checks in at No. 68 overall.
Holding 30 offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida State,
LSU, Ohio State and Texas A&M among others, the 6-foot-2,
193-pound Woodard has 4.61 laser-timed speed in the 40-yard
dash, a quick player with a 4.26 shuttle, Woodard also has
leaping ability with a 32-2 inch vertical.
Woodard is terrific winning the 1-on-1 ball. Tracks the ball
well and can make plays with contact. A smooth route runner
that also makes plays in the red zone.
Commit No. 12 for Tom Herman and
company in the 2018 class, Woodard is the second receiver
joining arguably the top slot in the country in Rondale
Moore. At some point the Longhorns are expected to add
the nation’s No. 5 receiver Brennan
Eagles to this party and America’s No. 3 tight end
Ford is also sky high on Texas. Could be a special
group of pass catchers signing on the dotted line this cycle.
